Open Session for Early Career Scientists (ECS)

Who Early Career Scientists (ECS): Master and PhD students
Goal To foster scientific exchange between ECS and experienced scientists. Excellent opportunity to discuss and critically review your current research and consider new ideas. And: networking of course.
How it works

Innovative format:
– At the beginning: short introduction of your research topic by oral presentation in the auditorium
– Subsequently: All workshop participants choose a topic and discuss with the ECS in small working groups (similar to poster session)
– Three discussion rounds (20 minutes each) in those groups (rotating twice)

What has to be done

– Preparation of short presentation (3-5 minutes, 2-3 PowerPoint slides) of your research topic; preparation of questions you have and/or you would like to discuss with other participants
DIN A0 poster that help to show your points in the discussion rounds

Difference to conventional poster session Less results-oriented; you are free to discuss questions, methods and problems with other experts.
How to apply Please send a short abstract (300 words) about your research topic and questions you would like to discuss with others.
Award We will award the most innovative and original format.

 

Additional information:
– A detailed schedule will be sent in January
– Further equipment on request (e.g. additional poster walls, bar table, monitors etc)
